Bird Flu Travel Advice

Currently all the main governments and the WHO (World Health Organization) are advising people not to change their travel arrangements due to the current outbreak of Bird Flu. At present it is felt that all cases are likely to have been the result of close contact with infected animals or their faeces.

People are being advised to take sensible common sense precautions. Care should be taken:-

  • if visiting poultry farms or live animal markets in affected countries or handling sickly or dead wild birds.
  • handling bird faeces on cars or other surfaces.
  • eating undercooked poultry or eggs.

To date (3 March 2006) there have been cases of Bird Flu in the following countries:-
