General concensus seems to be that there are 3 applicable
standards of masks that can be used to combat swine flu. FFP2
standard, FFP3 standard and those masks that are below these
standards. The FFP3 standard is the highest and provides a
98% filtering efficiency against particulates like the swine
flu virus. FFP2 provides 92% filtering. Anything less like
the protection provided by medical face masks or nuisance
dust masks will only provide minimal protection.
